Captain Birds Eye made his advertising and TV debut in February 1967 promoting Birds Eye Fish Fingers. He continued to sail the TV screen seas until 2004 when he was retired… until 2018.

In January 2018, a new, more modern Captain Birds Eye made a celebrated return to UK screens in Birds Eye’s Real Food Simply Made fish campaign. The full year, multi-channel campaign on both fish fingers and coated fish was supported by £8m media investment in 2018 and looks forward to a further £7m investment in 2019.

The change in this new campaign aims to make Captain Birds Eye more relevant to consumers, focused on the simplicity and authenticity of food, whilst retaining his trademark adventurous spirit.
Consumers are leading increasingly busy lives, and we hope the new campaign and Captain can inspire families to sit back and savour the simple things in life such as our fish products, which are made with only 100% fish fillet, and breadcrumb or batter.”

In parallel with the Real Food Simply Made Campaign, Birds Eye continues to be an ambassador for fish sustainability, being awarded MSC frozen brand of the year in 2018 for the 5th consecutive year; 93% of its fish and seafood portfolio have been independently certified as sustainable with the aim to reach 100% by the end of this year.

Birds Eye’s vision is to increase UK fish consumption from the current 1.3 portions to 1.5 portions by 2025*, help us achieve this by stocking up on our top-selling fish products!
